Is it any good, should I pick it up?

I'd suggest reading a few reviews of it to get the idea of it, though we primarily play it modded nowadays.

If you do pick it up, go with either the complete set or Tales of Valor; the complete set gives you access to all the single play campaigns, while Tales of Valor only gives you three campaigns, but it includes all factions and the other features offered in the expansion itself.
